ADM Set to Acquire UK-Based Firm FDL, Bolstering Its Nutrition Business
Archer Daniels Midland Company (ADM), a global leader in food processing and commodities trading, is set to acquire UK-based firm FDL, a leading developer and producer of premium flavor and functional ingredient systems. The move marks a significant expansion in ADM’s nutrition business, with the acquisition expected to be completed by the end of January 2024.
ADM Bolsters Nutrition Portfolio
FDL, an ingredient solutions provider based in London, specializes in natural taste and nutrition solutions for a variety of product types and global markets. With projected sales of $120 million in 2023, FDL’s strong presence in the European foodservice channel makes it a desirable asset for ADM. This acquisition is aligned with ADM’s strategy to build a global leader in nutrition.
Strengthening FDL’s Portfolio
Expressing his excitement about the partnership, FDL’s CEO, Eric Beatty, stated that ADM’s global nutrition and flavor capabilities will offer new opportunities to strengthen FDL’s portfolio. Highlander Partners, L.P., the parent company of FDL, also showed confidence in the acquisition, stating that the combination will elevate the business to the next level.
ADM’s Strategic Acquisitions
This acquisition follows ADM’s recent purchase of Revela Foods, a Wisconsin-based developer and manufacturer of dairy flavor ingredients and solutions. Both transactions are subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals. With Revela expected to report sales of almost $240 million in 2023, these strategic acquisitions are part of ADM’s ongoing efforts to expand its flavors portfolio and enhance its position in the global nutrition market.
