Tailwind Nutrition is re-introducing its popular Endurance Fuel flavour, ‘Dauwaltermelon’, inspired by Tailwind Nutrition sponsored athlete and 2023’s Triple Crown-winning ultrarunner, Courtney Dauwalter.
First introduced in spring 2023 as a limited edition, the product provides a light, fruity watermelon taste with a hint of lime.
The Dauwaltermelon flavour has now become a permanent fixture in the Tailwind lineup. The watermelon with lime sports nutrition drink mix offers a combination of calories, electrolytes and hydration for athletes; and, according to Tailwind, there is no need for gels, chews, bars, or salt pills.
Tailwind’s Endurance Fuel products mix clear with water and are designed to be used during training and racing, without upsetting the stomach. Dauwaltermelon with Lime is available in 50 and 30 serving bags (MSRP: US$39.99/US$28.99) as well as single serve stick packs. (MSRP: US$2.49).
“It has been an absolute blast working with Courtney all of these years and we are humbled to know that she trusts Tailwind products to go great distances – which is an understatement,” said Maggie Guterl, Athletes & Events Manager at Tailwind Nutrition.
“She fuelled exclusively on the Dauwaltermelon flavour for her entire Triple Crown last year. It was a fun process to develop this flavour with Courtney and our team, getting it just right to invoke that playful feeling on your taste buds without causing flavour fatigue.
“Tailwind fans were really sad to see the limited edition flavour go. Our customer service department received a lot of emails begging for the secret stash (we promise we weren’t holding out on you). We heard you and thought it was an easy decision to graduate Dauwaltermelon into our permanent line-up. Now you can indulge in as much Dauwaltermelon your heart and legs desire when it comes to your fueling needs”
Courtney Dauwalter said “Dauwaltermelon is back and I am so thrilled. The flavour is the perfect amount of lightness and freshness that adds joy to every adventure.
“In fact, it was the only flavour I used recently at Mt Fuji 100 and multiple times after sipping on it I found myself exclaiming to the empty trails around me how delicious it was.”
Dauwalter has been with Tailwind for seven years. This summer, the ultrarunner is taking on the Hardrock 100 Endurance Run, where she currently holds the course record in both the clockwise and counterclockwise directions.
Dauwaltermelon and Tailwind-themed shirts (MSRP: US$29.99) will also be available at TailwindNutrition.com.
