7th CNE Conference: Exploring the Future of Neuro-Nutrition

The conference, a collaboration between the department of dietetics & neurology, was a magnet for over 150 delegates from across India, who came to explore the vital link between nutrition and cognitive health.

Keynote speakers, Dr Vinay Goyal, director neurology, Medanta, Gurugram, and Dr Shefali Gulati, chief child neurology division, AIMS, New Delhi, were at the forefront of illuminating the profound effect of dietary habits on brain function. They emphasized the importance of specific nutrients in safeguarding the nervous system and maintaining cognitive health.
Focusing on Epilepsy and Neurological Disorders
The conference participants delved into a range of topics which included recent advancements in the care of epileptic patients and the efficacy of ketogenic diets in managing epilepsy. They highlighted the power of nutrition in not just maintaining, but also enhancing brain function, demonstrating its potential as a tool in the fight against neurological disorders.

Dr Gagandeep Singh, the head of neurology at DMC&H, drew attention to the evolving understanding of the gut-brain axis—an intricate relationship between the gut and the brain.
